The work period lasted (18) months. Work began on 4/10/2008 and work continued until 10/10/2009 according to the contract at a cost of (6) billion, (878) million, and (705) thousand dinars.
The goal of the project
The aim of the project: The Hurriya-Dughara project is considered one of the most important reclamation projects in Al-Qadisiyah Governorate. Its lands are located on both sides of the Dughara River and the Hurriya Stream, which branch off from the dhaniyab of the Hilla River within the administrative borders of the Diwaniyah and Afak districts. It is one of the old irrigation projects and has been partially developed and reclaimed. Reclamation work is still ongoing. This work constitutes part of the comprehensive strategic project (Hillah-Diwaniyah) whose lands are located in these two governorates. The lands of the project are irrigated from several sources, including the Dughara Stream, the Hurriya Stream, the extension of the Dhalamiya Stream, one of the Hilla River streams, and the Sharifiya Stream, which branches off from the Diwaniyah River. The method of irrigating the project lands depends on flood irrigation for most areas and pumping for others by pumping stations implemented on the sub-streams and feeders, as the current Sadr Shatt al-Daghara regulator was established earlier with a discharge of 75 m3/s, and four cutting regulators were established on its main course in order to secure water for the lands located on it, with a total area of 750,000 dunums and a net area of 643,000 dunums. It is irrigated by flood from the irrigation sources mentioned above. The works in this part of the project include implementing integrated land reclamation by constructing lined channels and purifying previously implemented drains and various irrigation works including chest regulators, cutting regulators and tail drains. The drains implemented in the project are the main and sub-drains and the combined drains. According to the integrated reclamation designs, the covered field drains are introduced and adjustment and leveling works are carried out for all parts of the project. The project includes five complete sectors within the governorate from (4-8) and part of sectors (3, 9) located within the governorates of Babylon and Qadisiyah. Reclamation works are focused on sector No. (7) of the Hurriya-Daghara project with an area of (137,000) dunums, which began work in 2001 and continued until its completion area reached (82,000) dunums. As for the project, which was assigned to our company, it includes the implementation of reclamation works for the lands of the main Jaheesh Canal from km (9+850) to km (18+750) with the Jaheesh/2 branch with a total area of (9,500) dunums, and it was implemented according to the investment plan, and our company implemented it
